Thor Prime Still

The Thor Prime 108 mm reflux still is the largest and most efficient packed column on the market. With its impressive 108 mm (4-inch) diameter, more than 12 litres of prismatic packing, and a capacity exceeding 6 litres of 96%+ spirit per hour, it is designed for the most demanding distillers. Thor Prime was created for those who want to achieve ultra-pure alcohol in the shortest possible time. Its large vapor cross-section and optimized flow dynamics allow for a distillation rate unreachable for smaller columns. The Thor-type head, the lowest on the market, keeps the total column height at only 150 cm without compromising performance.

Every detail is built for precision and durability. The set includes a large SMS sight glass, a high-precision Riegler needle valve, two temperature sensors (at the base and under the head), and HENITOM + spiral prismatic packing, widely regarded as the best on the market. A digital thermometer with 0.01 °C accuracy ensures precise control of the process. All connections are made with Tri-Clamp fittings for perfect sealing, fast assembly, and easy cleaning. Two condensers — a top condenser and an OVM cooler — guarantee excellent condensation efficiency with moderate water use while preventing unwanted odors in the room. The top condenser can be removed via a side connection, allowing quick rinsing and maintenance.

The Thor Prime still is 150 cm tall and 108 mm in diameter. Its modular Tri-Clamp construction makes transport and cleaning exceptionally easy. The column can be expanded with additional components such as a condenser with parrot for flavored spirits or a stabilizing-boost buffer that increases process stability and reduces total distillation time. These upgrades are often used in professional distilleries, offering greater control over yield and quality.

The still is sold without a boiler — an appropriate tank should be selected from the “Boilers” category. For Thor Prime, we recommend a minimum capacity of 100 litres (yielding about 13 litres of 96% spirit), while 225 L or 445 L boilers are ideal, producing around 25 L and 50 L of finished product per run. For fruit or grain mashes, a double-jacketed oil bath boiler of at least 120 litres is recommended. To achieve full performance, the heating power should be at least 10 kW, with 12 kW being optimal. Depending on the wash and heating method, all necessary options — filling port, drain valve, insulation — can be configured directly on the product page.

Operating the column is extremely simple and limited to adjusting a single needle valve. The process can be automated: the e-ARC controller automatically manages the main distillate collection, while the SKN controller performs a fully automated run once initial parameters are set. This ensures precise, repeatable results and full control over the distillation process.

The set includes two 108 mm column sections, a stainless-steel top condenser, a complete SMS sight glass, HENITOM packing, Tri-Clamp connectors with silicone gaskets, an OVM cooler with Riegler valve, and a DS thermometer with dual probes. Optionally, the still can be equipped with a condenser with parrot, allowing comfortable work with flavored spirits such as brandy, rum, fruit brandy, calvados, or grain spirits.
