About this product
Keg-Type Boiler for Reflux Stills and Pot Stills
Not sure how to configure your boiler? Check out our Article for guidance.
Available Options:
Capacity:
-
30L (height ~40 cm)
-
50L (height ~60 cm)
-
100L (height ~65 cm)
By default, we use DIN-type kegs. Upon request, we can provide shorter EURO-type kegs (-4 cm), except for the 100L keg, which is available only in one standard.
Heating Options:
-
No heating elements – suitable for gas heating (do not select this option with insulation!)
-
One ~2kW heating element – recommended for smaller electric setups and 30L kegs
-
Two ~2kW heating elements (~4kW total) – ideal for 30L and 50L kegs
-
Four ~2kW heating elements (~8kW total) – recommended for 100L kegs
Our heating elements are designed for thick mashes thanks to their low power density (~8W/cm²). We do not use screw-in elements (with threads), which often have a high power density (over 32W/cm²) and tend to scorch the contents. Our ULWD (Ultra-Low Watt Density) elements eliminate this issue.
Standard center mount is 2" Tri-Clamp. You can add an additional inlet, welded on the top part for filling. Available sizes:
-
None
-
3/4"
-
2"
-
4"
Ports from 1/2" to 2" come with threaded caps. The 4" fill port uses a Tri-Clamp fitting. A larger port is especially helpful when filling the boiler with thick mashes (fruit wines, grain mashes) and also makes cleaning easier.
Drain Valve:
-
None – standard keg with no drain
-
3/4"
-
1"
-
2"
Larger drain valves reduce the risk of clogging (e.g., from seeds). All drains are equipped with ball valves.
Additional Thermometer in Boiler:
-
None
-
LCD thermometer with long probe for measuring liquid (or a 1/2" port for use with a thermometer from a reflux still set)
-
Thermometer port only (e.g., for use with owned thermometer)
A thermometer in the boiler helps determine how much alcohol remains in the wash. The electronic thermometer includes a long probe to measure liquid temperature (not vapor) and has a resolution of 0.1°C.
Insulation:
-
None
-
Heating Armaflex insulation
Insulation speeds up the heating process, reduces power consumption during distillation, and helps prevent burns from accidental contact with a hot boiler.
A power regulator for the boiler is also available. It allows fine control of heating power based on column size and wash strength. It is essential for reflux stills, useful for stills with a sight glass, and strongly recommended for thicker mashes when working without a sight glass.
Please note:
Product photos are for reference only. The boiler will be delivered in the configuration selected from the dropdown menu.
Keg-type boilers are recycled beer kegs previously used in breweries. They may show signs of wear such as scuffs, scratches, or dents. These do not affect their functionality or capacity.
The 100L kegs often have multiple dents and scratches — while they remain fully functional and stable, if appearance is important to you, we recommend selecting the insulation option, which helps mask cosmetic imperfections.
Threaded keg fittings (keg thread) are available on request.
